EXPOMATEX AND LA MOSTRA, BRINGS TOGETHER THE TEXTILE AND CLOTHING SECTOR
01.02.05

Together, the two trade fairs will feature over 700 companies

Expomatex and La Mostra open their doors from the 1st to the 5th February with the latest in textile and clothing machinery. Over 700 companies will show the latest techniques, services and technology for the textile and clothing industry. Despite the economic climate at the start of 2005, especially complicated by the textile sector, textile and clothing machinery companies have shown an excellent response to the fair.

The commitment of exhibitors is a fundamental contribution to the drive that the textile sector in Spain needs at the moment and these two trade shows provide important support for promotion and innovation in the sector and a unique platform for the application of solutions and initiatives.

Expomatex, a platform for innovation
With 93 direct exhibitors representing 276 trademarks, Expomatex will be a platform for the innovation of all textile companies attending the trade fair. The 14th show will be a major technological market, in which companies can find out about the applications that will allow them to compete through innovation. The supply at this new show is marked by flexibility and effective product delivery, two of the main demands of the European market, with a wide range of machinery that covers the entire textile process.
The trade fair will provide the setting for the 31st Symposium of the Asociación Española de Químicos y Coloristas Textiles covering Technology of Textile Structures, with various cycles on spinning, nonwovens, weaving and knitting.
According to the president of Expomatex, Carlos Aguilar, the link between textile companies, distributors and machinery manufacturers is essential. “Our mission is to contribute to the necessary conversion of the textile sector by joining forces and objectives, since it is only with strong, competitive textile companies in Spain and in Europe, that we can continue to innovate and offer high quality equipment and machinery”.

La Mostra presents the latest for the clothing sector
La Mostra will feature 88 direct exhibitors representing 259 trademarks showcasing the most recent applications that technology offers garment manufacturers. According to the president of the Organising Committee of La Mostra, Pedro Kauf, La Mostra represents a unique opportunity for textile companies: “the exhibition offers a wide range of opportunities for working with new fabrics, incorporating creativity into the product and improving business logistics”.

With regard to parallel activities, the Gremi de la Indústria de la Confecció de Barcelona is organising the eighth International Clothing Symposium, an important encounter for company owners, technicians, administration and sector representatives. There will also be an exhibition, in which the 23 leading Italian embroidery companies will present their works through sophisticated techniques, showcased in panels and dresses, all accompanied by a series of photographs with an African theme.

Maq&Punt, with Expomatex
Thanks to the agreement between Fira de Barcelona and Fira de Igualada, Maq&Punt, the knitwear accessories machinery fair, is holding its seventh show for the first time in Barcelona and will have its own space in Expomatex. This agreement allows the two institutions to join forces in order to showcase the widest possible range of products and create an integrating trade fair platform open to all spheres of the textile technology sector, thereby favouring the interests of the sector.

The incorporation of Maq&Punt, held up to now in Fira d’Igualada, also favours the numerous synergies existing between the three trade fairs, in benefit of both national and international professionals, thereby making their visit more profitable.

Expomatex and La Mostra in the new pavilions
With the inauguration of Expomatex and La Mostra, Fira de Barcelona is opening up pavilions 3 and 4 of the Gran Vía M2 exhibition centre. This new phase adds 40,000 gross square metres of space to the showground. The pavilions, identical in structure, distribution and surface area, offer the latest technologies and the most advanced security systems.

Expomatex y La Mostra are trade shows of Fira de Barcelona, the leading organiser of industrial and professional exhibitions in Spain and one of the first four in Europe in number of events.
