14th Expomatex, International Textile Machinery Fair and the 13th La
Mostra, International Clothing Machinery Show have closed their doors
to pavilions 3 and 4 of the Gran Vía M2 exhibition centre. Between
them, the two trade fairs had an audience of 11,137 trade visitors and
over 700 exhibitors (175 direct and 533 indirect).
Despite the difficult economic climate, the trade fair had an
excellent response from companies and employers in the textile and
clothing machinery sector. According to Antonio Langreo, director of
Expomatex and La Mostra, “both trade fairs are essential for the
Spanish and European textile sector to continue to innovate and be
competitive. For this reason, at Fira de Barcelona we will keep on
supporting the sector by continuing to hold Expomatex and La Mostra”.
Expomatex, which was attended by 5,272 trade visitors, provided a
platform for 90 direct and 275 indirect exhibitors; a total of 365
companies, 34% of which were foreign. 343 companies, 85 direct and 258
indirect exhibitors participated in La Mostra, 11% of which were from
outside Spain. The International Clothing Machinery Show had an
audience of 5,865 people.
54% of the 11,137 visitors hold a management position (employers,
managers and directors), 23% work in the technical area and the
remainder in the commercial field.
The majority of national visitors, 90%, come from Spain. Catalonia,
the Community of Valencia, Andalusia and Madrid, were the Autonomous
Communities with the biggest presence, in that order. Foreign visitors
came from Europe (European Union and the rest), Africa and Latin
Expomatex and La Mostra focused on flexibility and efficiency in
product delivery, two of the main demands, with a wide range of
machinery that covered the entire textile process.
activities were also well attended. The 23rd Symposium of the
Asociación Española de Químicos y Coloristas Textiles was attended by
240 accredited professionals, while 114 professionals registered for
the 8th International Clothing Symposium. Lastly, the Conference on
knitwear, organised within the setting of Maq&Punt by Fitex and the
Agrupación Española del Género de Punto, recorded an audience of around
a hundred professionals.
On occasion of Expomatex and La Mostra,
Fira de Barcelona opened up pavilions 3 and 4 of the Gran Vía M2
exhibition centre, ending a new expansion phase, which has added 40,500
square metres gross to the showground. The pavilions, identical in

and the most advanced security systems.
Expomatex and La Mostra are trade shows of Fira de Barcelona, the
leading organiser of industrial and professional exhibitions in Spain
and one of the first four in Europe in number of events.
